He has walked one mile
and many
tripping upon landmines
hidden
Landing sometimes
exactly where he was meant to be
and other times
not

and now

Looking upon his journey
muddled and bruised as I
face torn and wrinkled
from the same Sun

He progresses

He has come quite far,
in a span of a thousand lifetimes
lived
within one half-life

Calm cool stream
sits for him
taking pride
acting as sentinal
to the silent beatings
in the deep dark night
of a heart
pure

Rapids, white and wicked
Dare him to a joust
To test himself within them

I think that he must be frightened
Yet sure of his next step
always the victor
in this raging war

He knows that I’ve just begun
my journey
Though it would seem
I should be far along my path
I stumble

And look to him, not for an answer
sometimes an answer
always an answer
Of what lies downstream

and he walks with me
Safe on the bank of his own stream
and grabs my hand when I fall
cleansing my wounds with his words

If only to guide me
far from the paths
he knows well
where he has fallen himself
once or twice

It is for this I am grateful

If he had never fallen
I would be falling still

Thank you Ed . . .
This is my response to your beautiful reply

Little Birdie, this is a beautiful streaming  and a such a loving reply to a wonderful poet.  Lucky for you both to share that kind of friendship together.  I really enjoyed the flow of feelings that you seemingly write so effortlessly.

Hugs to you dear Tweety~

Sue?
you have nailed my buddy

he is a man
who takes life
by the reins

on occasion

and if it involves fun?
he excels

if it involves drudgery?
he fails

and who wouldnt want to be like that?

good job Lady
