you walk on the ground

   sometimes you fall down a mineshaft

you walk on the ground
and
   sometimes you climb a mountain

Sometimes

   you climb a mountain
       and lose your balance
   and go tumbling down a mineshaft

and
Other times

   you fall down a mineshaft
       and are borne up by a draft
   and your toes touch down on a mountain top

and then?
there are Those times

rare
       times

when Mt Everest
and the
Marianas trench

are but heartbeats apart

and you wonder

about terminal velocity
and
rocketships...
