Cereal Not Spaghetti (Midnitesun Challenge) By Larry Chadwick Larry Jr. & Ginger Breakfast was always the favorite meal of the day, And my kids thought it was the perfect time to play. There comes that time when you have to let them try, So you hand them the spoon and just prepare to laugh until you cry. Cheerios had been my favorite cereal as a little boy, And grandma kept it in her cupboard as a useful ploy. So it only seemed appropriate as my kids came along, I would give them Cheerios to make them big and strong. The floor was protected as best as we were able, We were smart enough not to feed them at the table. A spoon must seem to be an instrument of war, As they both used it to fling Cheerios upon the floor. It seemed there was some meager attempt to find their mouth, But instead the milk and cereal was pretty much headed south. And it was not long before they got flustered and picked up the bowl instead, Just like children from so long ago it went upside down on top of their head. September 3, 2004 If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

This is adorable - it brings back sweet memories. Well done- Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

this reminds me of my Mom's stories about my big brother and oatmeal. She said it's very hard to get oatmeal out of baby hair. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Superbly painted!!! As I read, I found myself wondering why Cheerios are not made largely enough to slip onto the fingertips...but then, again, that may be just plain self-explanatory! Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

I sent this to my son and his family to enjoy as they have THE fattest Jack Russell you ever saw. Bandit got that way from eating that very same cereal, as both of my two grandkids have sent boxes of it to the floor over the past several years, LOL. Very cute story that certainly met Kacy's challenge. |

LOL, and what a fun challenge write! Yep, it doesn't have to be spaghetti. Any first food write is bound to be hilarious. THANKS! And I'm feeling a bit better today, have had a two day sinus infection/migraine attack, on top of making the mistake of watching the news. Hugs, Kacy |

Nan, Thanks. And I'm sure it isn't easy. I'm also sure that was my little brothers first food event. He loved oatmeal(still does) and would beg for "hot therow". Virginia, Thanks. You put a fun image in my mind and reminded me of the value of olives! Dixie, Thank you it seems we all share them. Jo, LOL Thanks. And it is nice to be back. Alli, Thank you. So that means you'll try the challeng too, right? If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Kristabell, I don't believe we've met. Thanks for reading. And are those memories of the first bowl on your head? Sue, You are so very kind. Thank you. Glad you enjoyed and I appreciate the welcome too. It is good to see you around here still. Sharon, Thanks. Your Jack Russell story cracked me up! No wonder dogs are so loyal to children. Kacy, Sorry you are under the weather. Migraines suck! And glad your challenge rules were relaxed. You might want to let Karilea know as the Serene One is making up her own rules on your challenge! LOL Get well and peace. (Stay away from the news!) If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
