Across strawberry fields and
bramble patches there's a little
shack just outside old shanty
town

with railroad tracks and slow
freight passing by blowing it's
midnight whistle as it rolls on
it's way past shanty town

a lamp flickers it's flame across
her diary that she has penned
a life time with happiness and
dreams of the day she leaves
old shanty town

then on a blustery day a fire
started in the clump of brambles
and spread across shanty town
and burned all down

now with her diary gone and no
more shanty town she sets with
grief and a face with frown
