I remember white sand beaches
cool ocean breezes caressing our skin
sweat slick and salty to the tongue

I remember racing you to the water
daring you to play
in the rise and fall of the waves

I remember laying next to you
watching the suns colours paint the sky
and waiting on the moon

I rememeber dancing in the dark
to the music of the wind
bare feeting sliding in the still warm sand

I remember your kiss
a whisper of what could be
a promise, an invitation

I remember it all so well
even though it was just a fantasy
I remember the pain of too soon
the pain of not yet

And I wonder when you'll
ever let it go.

Wonderful poem Paula. I love it. Small question? Are you Canadian by birth? Colours? I thought Americans spelled it colors. Of course being Canadian by birth I prefer your spelling! LOL! Wonderful!!!!

Paula - I remember also those white beaches, closeness under the palms, dancing under the moon, oh yes, I remember then...

Hard not to remember something like this -- the experience or the poem.

May love and light always shine upon you!

Well,  congrats on the 4.0 in academics and
in this poem.  Nice write of what might be.
Missouri is a little far from those sandy
beaches....but that is what dreams are for.
