My first poem to this forum: KYRA She was just a little cat born blind and ten days old when her mother died She was just a little cat when I held her in my arms poor long-grey-haired delight She was just a little cat so she learned her way around bumping into everything She was just a little cat went exploring the outside try to catch that flying thing She was just a little cat and she brought me her first mouse so I told her: " Good for you" She is just a little cat still blind and four years old purring into my ear: " I love you too" |

Thank you Sven, for giving me my first feed back. You will see more soon, but I need to go to bed now. It's three AM overhere and I have to get up at 7.30. I recently started to write in English and I think it's fun to do, challenging. Thanks again. |

Titia, do you still have this cat? She must be a joy for you. Pets have a way of healing alot of our hurts, inside and out. I love your first poem. Welcome, ME |

How exciting: someone from the Netherlands, writing in a 2nd language, well at least not the first, and a cat lover, to boot!! I love cats, have 4 right now. You describe your cat and your relationship quite well. Good introduction to yourself, Titia! |

Dear Titia, I think it is a great accomplishment to be able to write your poem in a second language. It's tough enough in native language. I have two kitties and I they are wonderful pets. Welcome to the forum. Joyce |

Thank you very much for all your kind words. Yes, I still have her and allthough she is blind, she plays boss over all our cats and dogs. I've allways have cats (and lots of other animals) but Kyra is the most precious of them all, maybe just because she is such a fighter. If you want a picture of her, you can send me a mail (hgeertman@zeelandnet.nl) and I will mail you one. And yes, it's quite different to rhyme in a foreign language, I have to keep it a bit simple (lack of words), but then, most of my Dutch poetry is simple too. Thank you again for such a warm welcome. |
