It only took a moment for her to vanish into thin air They searched and searched but could not find her anywhere The news force rallied round and posters immediately sprang up Volunteers combed the streets vowing never to give up Her family sat in silent shock disbelief held back the tears that someone would be so cruel to take a child of only six years Days passed without a clue Then suddenly a month went by still the child was not found but the family continued to cry A year went by with no luck no trace, no break, no clue Life went on, it had to you see, there was only praying left to do A hiker found the body hidden deep in the desert brush Police and film crews were alerted and descended in a rush Outside the parents home they stood crying in the rain relief mixed with grief tonight to shadow a parent’s pain. Rain fell as she was laid to rest given to God, she forever sleeps sadness felt in all mortal hearts and for lost children, mother earth weeps |

An extremely sad event. PDV, I'm thinking that a non-rhyming treatment for this one would be more suited to the pain of which it's relating. In fact, the rhythm is perhaps to lilting to reflect what was really being felt by those who suffered this horrendous loss. There's no indication as to what type of critiquing you are comfortable with, but I felt this to be such an important story that I was compelled to give my opinion...just in case it would help. I hope you don't mind. |

Poet deVine, you are so right that the Mother Earth cries. What we have done to this earth and those who live on this earth, is enough to make her cry non-stop! When we have a sunny day, does that mean there is no reason to cry or is she all cried out? A very thoughtful poem. Hugs ME |

I have no doubt with the number of abductions, and senseless crime of today's life, that indeed the earth weeps. More than compounding the problem with our silence, we as a body of humans need to become motivators and participants within our communities. What we see now is only compounded by our apathy. Very important write. "I am not now that which I have been." |

PoetdeVine~ How delicately your verse traced the pain~ Sadly, each day brings fresh tears to fall from mothers and fathers of this earth. Very tender - very, very touching. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

excellent deVine. . . the storytelling in this one is really well done. . . ------------------------------------------------------ To the world, you may only be one person. But to one person, you may be the world. |

Very good presentation of an extrememly sad event! You read stories like this so often and feel for the families involved. Betty Lou Hebert |

Thank you all for you kind comments. I hold my breath every time a child goes missing. There was a young girl almost two years ago that stood IN FRONT of her house to wait for the ice cream man. She was alone for maybe 5 minutes while her sister ran inside to get more money..........and she was taken. They haven't found her yet. |

A grim, gripping and very important poem, one that reminds how very real the horror, how very real the threat. As a society, we are failing to protect and educate our wee ones. No wonder She weeps. Thank you, Sharon. Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

I think she weeps for all children...or, for that matter, for anyone. This is beautiful. |

I raised my children in a smaller more trustworthy world. I wanted them to keep their innocence as long as possible. I know that is denied to the parents of today. They must tell their babies that all is not good in this world they have inherited. So sad. Joyce |

This tore my heart out PDV! I can't say anything more than what you've written,,it's a cloud that hangs over our society and it's not very nice...thank you for having the courage to remind once more that we are in a state of imperfection.....so sad but excellent delivery! The poet is like a cocoon; in him the caterpillar of the past finds rest, and from him the butterfly of the future emerges. |
