Thank you for bringing my attention to this , I found 10 poems of mine which had been plaguairised by someone posting under the name founder , also this person is a moderator , I have written to them and given them the titles of my poems and the dates in which this person had posted them hopefully they will remove the poems Hope Hope |

One more word of caution: After digging around a bit, I wanted to caution some of you that this site contains sexually explicit material. And sigh--I'm afraid some of you folks who posted personal pics? Those were lifted along with your poetry. Their member list boasts close to 3500 members, and yet most of them have apparently never posted. Heh? I stopped counting at eight but I think we should have a little sympathy for Founder after all if he’s palming my stuff off as poetry there has to be something seriously wrong with the guy.  I also felt a little flattered and more than slightly hungry (but that could just be that I haven’t eaten yet). |

Sorry for the levity, I had a Homer Simpson moment; you know the type, where all the cares in the world disappear to be replaced by the enduring urge for Crusty burgers. I admit I was a little miffed when I first saw my stuff somewhere else under somebody else’s name, then I was honestly a little flattered that the somebody else had chosen my stuff. Then I realised that I was more bothered about being hungry than being plagiarised and that in the grand scheme of things it’s a minor irritation rather than a major incident. If anyone contacts our plagiarist friend tell him he can keep mine in exchange for burgers (amount negotiable). Midnitesun, Everyone has their price. Mmmmm Burgers |

I sent an email to the site administrator and suggested they seek legal council asap, as many of us here intend to go after them for flagrant copyrights violations. Well, guess we sit back and wait a few days to see what comes of this.... Personally, I have my hands full at home at the moment and am not willing to devote more than a few minutes more to this nonsense. |

The sad part of this is that we don't know where else besides this one site our poetry may be taken and used. I don't like it at all that this has happened, but I do know it won't stop here, and at some point in time it will happen again. Imagine how an artist whose CD is being pirated/copied vice being bought feels? And that happens more than we can count. |

They got me too, I've found six of mine already. I am... angrier than I can express on a PG website. And I found another guy: ~~@@Boomer@@~~. He ripped off a couple of your poems Kate, the Michael Poems. "It's about potatoes" was posted by Boomer and Founder too! I can't believe it. VBulletin is similar to any of those instant forum software downloads. This may help some, as you can write directly to them at VBulletin, and complain about that particular site using their name dishonestly. People actually buy this software, and then create a site to generate income it looks like. Build it and they will come I guess? There is a link in the left hand bar for reporting piracy (I imagine their software) but what the heck... http://www.vbulletin.com/contact.php I reported them and maybe the more the merrier? I'm curious... Ron, can a guest at PIP hit the edit button on a poem and the copy the source code? I wouldn't think so but the way pictures have also been transported along with the poetry would lead me to believe they can....or else the person who did the lifting is a pip member.... |

Oh, this frosts me! I haven't got all day to sit and copy things, but already found at least 8, plus two duets! I haven't time to read everything, but these are under guru, boomer, and founder. So, they are making a great deal of money off our writings and linking us to questionable sites, probably SELLING our names, email links, and maybe printing our things in books,as theirs? Edward, hacking their site might be faster than legal methods but isn't a good idea...at the very least, the ISP and Google should take immediate action to shut them down. Folks ... while I'll be the first to fess up that patience is a virtue that I am not known to possess ... however ... Be careful about anything you do at that site!!!! It is sending out viruses and spy SW to capture your info as it can....Sigh, totalmasala is directly tied to AdSense and Google, and maybe the only way to stop them is through pressure...MASS pressure, on Google...to shut them down. They are making tons of money every time we click on that site, they get paid by the number of 'hits' they get. There is no one even at that site (masala) to complain to! These are set up to generate income only for those setting them up, if you read what these AdSense sites are for. What you need to do is write to Google at these two links and complain about the misuse of that site. They are using your poetry to generate income. He's trying to figure a way we could go at this class-action and take care of it in one big swoop. Marge: I definitely want to stop the thieves... would love to slow roast them, for that matter *G*... but if there's a chance of something being implemented that will keep even the author from copying their work, I need to get busy copying/printing some poems. LOL I know Ron's told us a million times or so to keep copies of our work just in case... but... he's not lost any of mine yet and I'm bone lazy. Marge, I mentioned this code to Ron. I went to the site you provided and within seconds I managed to copy and paste their so-called "protected" script. They are right in that I cannot right click to copy. But I could highlight the script to copy (ctrl c) then paste it on a word processor (ctrl v). Maybe there's a stronger code we can find. Magnus is right, I applaud your efforts. We'll think of something. I've edited or deleted several comments, and I sincerely hope I don't have to continue. Please -- don't direct Google or anyone else to this thread to support your attempts to correct the problem. As much as I'd like to see the problem resolved, I'd also like to see people find pipTalk.com through threads in which we can all take pride. I don't think this one qualifies. Now, in way of a more constructive addition to the thread, HERE is the link that everyone needs: http://www.colo4dallas.com/accept_policies.php?sec=2&sub=4 I think the procedure for finding this was detailed in the other links I posted in the other thread, but here's a quick rundown of what I just did. 1. Find the IP address of the web site. You can do that by pinging the domain name or by doing a tracert, both from your Windows command prompt. 2. Go to http://ws.arin.net/whois and enter the IP address to find out who it was assigned to (Colo4Dallas, in this case). 3. Type Colo4Dallas into Google and see if you can find their web site. 4. Look for the Terms of Service and an accompanying abuse email address. These are the people who provide the hosting for the offending web site. The host provides the pipes (and usually the computer, but probably not in this case) by way of which the plagiarist is publishing your material. In most cases, the host is the second contact you should make (the first should the owner of the offending web site, but I doubt that will have much effect in this case). Now, if you want to complain to anyone (the hosting service here, or Google, or even the owner of the domain), you really need to do it correctly. I get complaints of plagiarism every week at the main site (a few on poems that I wrote!) and ignore most because they are totally bogus (I got a phone call, no less, just last week from a very irate mother because I stole her 14-year-old daughter's poem and published it on the main site . . . uh, nine years ago?). The links I posted in the other thread have some really EXCELLENT advice from Kit, including form letters and DMCA forms. People are only going to listen to you if you are professional and have all your ducks in a line. |

I will be BUMPING poems that I know are plagiarized from PiP later today ... I am registered at the site ... and having gotten the attention of 'some person' ... who is listed as an ADMINISTRATOR named GURU ... (of course he is also one of the biggest offenders of posting works from PiP) I will simply bump everything I see that came from PiP and ask that it be deleted ... after all, because they didn't put any names on the poems ... they will most likely continue to delete ones that are bumped up ... with a note to delete it ... they don't know who the original author/copyright owner is ... so maybe they will just delete everything that I bump ????? Marge: I registered there and posted a thread asking admins/moderators to please pay attention to the plagiarism problem. They deleted that thread, along with the poem I was complaining about... not mine, by the way, but certainly not Founder's! I, too, hate to think that my participation there is giving them any kind of monetary reward for their theiving... but... bumping things up and making waves seems to be the fastest way to get action. Magnus: India subscribes to the Berne Convention for Protection of Literary and Artistic Works. They also have a bilateral relationship with the US for copyrights. |

Funny thing about GURU, in her profile, she was borh in Nov of 85..and in the article that was supposedly written by her, she is either 30 0r 31...which would mean she was born in 75. Oh well, does appear the main individuals are all relatively young, 20s and 30s....and are not overly excited about this ordeal (for us) |

Midnite, pretty brazen! I've seen posts in there that have the author's name IN the title "BY KERRI" lol ... and duets with various members here .. IN the title .. it's amazing. They've done the same thing to poets from a site called apkafuture (i think that's the right spelling) .. they used direct links WITH the site name in them. I was more than a little angry about it when I first heard about and saw that mess, even though none of mine were there ... but after reading through the titles, I was still mad but having giggle fits, 'cause really, what kind of moron doesn't change the titles and/or identifying names when they plagiarize stuff?? They've done a dirty rotten thing, but they did make it easy for us to find the things that needed to be deleted lol |

Not only that, but often at the beginning of poems I post, I include a little preface, or introduction, that explains what inspired the poem I'm sharing, and the individual(s) who copied and pasted my poems there actually included the prefaces in the postings, LOL!  I'm not going to resort to name-calling and accuse the individual(s) of being lunkheads or anything, and I'm certainly NOT with any trace of fiber in my being EVER going to perform, nor encourage, plagiarism of any sorts, but, pretending any of us were an accomplished plagiarizer, wouldn't you want to show more tact and actually re-name the title of the poem, change a number of words in the verse to synonyms of them, etc if your aim was for the individual you're stealing from never to find out about it? I'm certainly upset someone even attempted to steal nine of my works, but all the same I've found this whole episode amusing more than anything. The ones that we cannot translate were indeed stolen, but not from us. They were stolen from a mainly Islamic poetry forum found at www.apkafuture.com. (Those morons linked directly to that site lol) I browsed through and found many of the foreign titles, and all of the English ones that didn't belong to us as well, so registered there and left them a message to let them know too a couple days ago -- then emailed the company that hosts totalmasala's webspace and let them know as well, since I haven't had the time to go through many of the posts and bump them to help the others that were working so diligently I can't get into the poetry world link anymore either  I'm so glad that all your poetry has been removed from there! ~Sheli~ |

The entire Poetry World section is not there~  I have sent a note via Guru's Private messages that I greatly appreciate the fact that the plagiarized poetry has been removed~ Once again, I want to say a great big THANK YOU to Steve/sewasham ... without caring poets like you ... we would not have known of this plagiarized poetry~ Steve, I want you to know that I personally have saved one big *HUGLET* just for you~ To all of you who assisted in writing and reporting the plagiarized poetry to the Admin staff at Masala, I thank you from the heart of my little bottom~ UNITED we succeeded ! The volume of plagiarized poetry never should have been placed there undetected by the Administration at the site (who by the way ACTIVELY participated in swiping our poetry and posting it there) ... and thank goodness it is now gone~ Everyone have a safe and wonderful upcoming Labor Day Holiday weekend~ LOL ...
