Parkinsons With a Flair!

I don't know what others think
But I am of the mind
That you should add a little flair to life
And leave old ways behind

And so I have decided
To rehearse a little bit
So when the real thing happens
I will be a raving hit!

So I practiced all the symptoms
Imagination filled the air!
If I have to have this Parkinsons
I'll do it with a flair!

So I fluttered like a butterfly
Flitly flapped like hummingbird
Conducted violent orchestra
Rode on tumbling surfing board

What on earth is happening!!
Distraughtly asked my son!?
Don't worry, dear, I am just
Practicing my Parkinsons!

And you know it came in handy
Wasn't sure it ever would
But it helped to smooth a moment
As I had hoped it should

For when the real thing came along
My body was like lightening bursting!!
I said, son, please don't be concerned
For I am just rehearsing!

Wonderful poem, Elizabeth! And in doing this, you've probably eased your son's fears a bit too.

My dear Poet deVine,
Did you really think I did this? No, I just made it up! I'm not as crazy as I sound. Just trying to make some patients laugh.

I want a key to the padded room. Have perfect qualifications as well as a note from home. Would not wish that disease on anyone.

P.S. I do have the desease, and have felt the lightening, but what I made up is the story about practicing! These are poems that are being printeded in the Univ of Pa Parkinsons Center newsletter. I know My humor is a little strange but everyone down there at the Parkinsons Center in Philadelphia is laughing, including the doctors. And I am also the brunt of a lot of jokes here at home as well.We tend to laugh a lot about everything at our house.
Glad you enjoyed the poem

Elizabeth I'm sorry to hear that you have Parkinsons. It's good to look at things with humor. You know Michael J. Fox is another one who has this.
I'm glad to see you can make humor out of it and laugh. I'm sure that will take you a long way as it will help others too!

Elizabeth, my friend -

You seem to have a flair,
a very confident air,
about everything you do.

I pray that you keep that
wonderful sense of humor
for all time.
I can certainly see how you
would keep them all laughing
at the center. Bless you for
being such an encouragement to others.

There are some poets, and rightly so,
they say little, but you know
they have experienced far more than you,
evidenced when they share a little clue.

Bravery, bravado, call it what you will
but everyday our Elizabeth shines on still.

I enjoyed this Elizabeth. And I am in awe of your courage as you face this disease. I know it isn't easy. I'm sure you bring smiles to many hearts at the center as you do here at Passions!

You speak of feeling the lightning
Using words we'll comprehend
It's plain no mere affliction
Will stay your wit or pen

A glimpse of one more color
From your palette over-run
With an exuberance of spirit
Elizabeth , well done !

Some people have a flair
For everything they do
Elizabeth, my poet friend
One of them is you
When you are faced with tragedy
Sickness and with pain
You simply pick yourself up
Off the ground again
I find your courage admirable
You rise above the rest
When it comes to flair girl
You simply are the best!!

Pepper, Thank You! You might want to give your mother "Ode to Requip" a few pages back and "I'm smarter than you thunk". She'll relate! Thanks

Hoot,
Thank you for your little poem
It simply warms my heart
But you're the one who's flair
We've relished from the very start

You forgot to meantion my lovely flair for
Putting foot in mouth
But I'm overwhelmed with passion
Which I can't live without

I speak what's really in my heart
Whatever it may be
And I can't always control
What my heart is telling me

As far as Diseases go
They do not rule my life
I simply flitly flutter through
Just like a butterfly

Thank's Hoot

Elizabeth

I wasn't sure how to reply to this.  Laughing seemed wrong....crying seemed wrong.  It's touching and inspirational.  As stated before me, I admire your strength and courage and having the ability to look this in the eye and fight back!  Well done.     God bless.
