I just decided to try something different and plus my specialty is doing poems with emotions. Here it goes: Fear, is the one word that describes the feeling in our secret hiding room. Tears, are non-stop and is falling down everyone's eyes. It seems like we are doomed. Those Gestapo dogs have a keen sense of smell and a keen eyesight. My Jewish family and I have been on our knees praying for hours. Our knees are very sore. At anytime now, our lives could be unrooted up like a flower so, we're prepared to strike at anybody that tries to break in the door. Our secret room is very dark. Our only source of light, is from small cracks in the wall. We are very hungry, indeed! Once again, my family and I began to pray to God and recite some words from St. Paul. We have no money so, we are forced to eat our toenails and our fingernails. We are also forced to swallow our saliva and to drink our own urine. In no time, my mind has frailed. My family and I are deeply sickened. Our only hope is to pray to the Holy One and hope that he rescues us from this horrible nightmare. Otherwise, I'm ready to pull the trigger from my secret loaded gun because, now I realize the true meaning of the phrase,"life ain't fair." Nathan |

This is a tough subject to tackle... for we can only imagine the horror when unfortunately, these horrors weren't just imagined. *S* I've one question... was "mind frailed" a typo? I hope not... it says much of the weakening of a spirit. Welcome! |

Welcome!!!! What a hard topic to write about - well done. The holocaust defies words to describe the horror - but you have clearly shown the fear a Jewish family might feel indeed while hiding. |
