This one is pretty easy, folks.. Directly from the Poetic Dictionary of Terms TRIOLET (TRY-uh-lut) A poem or stanza of eight lines in which the first line is repeated as the fourth and seventh lines, and the second line as the eighth, with a rhyme scheme of ABaAabAB, , as in Adelaide Crapsey's "Song." http://myweb.wwa.com/~rgs/xcrapsey.htm#song The capital letters in the rhyme scheme above indicate the repetition of identical lines. This one should be light, easy, and fun... Do we need a theme? If so - Let's remember that it's Valentine's Day this month... Here's a very special one I just happened to have lying around - written by... somebody.. quote: Do your stuff, all... |

What really makes a triolet special is when the context makes the repetition less than obvious. It seems like a naturally conversational thing to say. This is evident in the triolet Nan posted above as well as those, particularly the first two, posted in another thread by cwebb. Just thought I'd throw in this little tidbit to complicate things for those who find the for too easy. ~~ducking flying objects of unknown origin~~ Pete |

WOW, I have to study on that one though. Lot of rules to remember when thinking up lines. But...as this is class, I'll do my best. Titia A rose is a rose is a rose...I guess... |
