Trickling down
the sides of your face
I could smell your gold-dust hair.

It smelled the way blossoms look
when they float in clean water
carried by gentle current.

You asked me so often
"Are you serious?"

I watched you tread water,
I could still touch
with my head above the waves.

I should have held you.

Another great write.

I love a poet that realizes the importance of a good ending. Free verse depends on it.

Heather... Thank you. I think I've won you as a follower. Careful now, or I'm going to start thinking I don't suck quite so much.

Yoyo... Thank you sir. I'm glad you think I fit the bill of a guy that knows something about anything, because I'm pretty sure I don't. Heh...

But how romantic your reaction.

Very very lovely!

Shades of "should-of"  and intensity that often comes with a backward look over the shoulder....  terrific impact, and I'm enjoying your talent!

Paul, I was just looking at your little statement, "I love my dog, and my truck.  It's that simple really."  It made me smile.

My granddaughter, who is 17, got a bright red pickup, and she immediately put a puffy purple sticker on the back window that reads:

Silly BoyS!  Trucks are for GIRLS!
