The passion's flame of youth it burns so bright - Yet sees not far beyond its blinding blaze; It throws but shadows stark into the night And clouds the sight with veil of crimson haze. As wild rivers slow their destined course, The passing years will tame the fulgent glare, The bright, resplendent heat will dim its force - But of Time's ploy the heart is unaware: For the red-hot coals will sear no less Than the wild, untempered flame of yore - Yet will cast forth a warming, soft caress, A passion's burn that anchors at the core: O Time, thou may thus tame the gilded flame, The ardour of the heart thou shall not claim. I agree with the kind Sir Sy... "O Time, thou may thus tame the gilded flame, The ardour of the heart thou shall not claim" wonderful ending... |
