he totes that dress home
in a paper poke
she coos
poke rattles in her hands
sunshine yellow
buttons for undoing
twirlin’ skirt
charcoal man knows what she likes
  somethin’ more bebette
lady squeals
bauble
for her neck

she leans in front of him
fasten it for me
I can’t get it to do

he does her up
arm around waist
chuckle lips on hers

charcoal man in Panama
fresh shined feet
calypso in lapel
smellin’ of patchouli
way he like to do
lady in yellow dress
pretty bauble
sashayin’
her sassy self

fais do-do
music drivin’
pumping la-la
dances her round
like first time
lady shines
steps fresh

charcoal man
smokes cigar
by the water
eyes strolling skirts

lady steps lively to another man’s dance
laughing
flaunting that yellow dress
snapping amber eyes
laugh showing milk teeth
bauble reflecting off water

black clouds paint themselves on sky
storm brews
takes her arm
  what you want
  yard dog
  make the misere
  bonne a rienne

charcoal man grab bauble
flings in water
for gators

lady says but you gone…

his eyes stop her breath
  don get siddity wid me
make me pass you slap, yea
tu peux voir le chemin et t’en aller
  you can see the road
  go

waves his arm at fais do-do
   laissez les bon temps rouler

next dawning
lady’s white arm
sunrise bruise
bauble gone
cigar smoke gone
lady’s heart just won’t beat
right

Must just be the day...some aura in the air lingering over my heart, but Lady, I just don't want anymore "leaving". ahhhh  just a sad day in my world. Make them happy for a bit, you can do it...after all, you are THE Lady!

my first read of the "charcoal man" . . .
made me smile because the charcoal man knows what she likes . . . clever dance of desire!  Am now looking for more charcoal!

Oh dear Lord Kate, you gotta turn this into a book.  These are absolutely outstanding,
and that man, what a rascal he is.

Methinks, that lady, has him hooked!!

I don’t think he would ever hurt
his lady
he was just a little irritated
left a good cigar to see to her
and that yard dog…

It all depends
that settlin' down
for ther's sometin
abou roaming 'round

ask the bee
then ask the bull
somethin' of need
somethin' of pull

saw the bull
keepin' kind to cow
loss of bebe
wouldn't leave, no how

wrote the poem
long gone some then
eye the moment
knowin' when...

So many I've read now..... and I am not sure if i missed any... WOW.... I will be collecting these up to read from one end to the other.... Like you're finished... NOT

Some one said they'd pay money for something as great as this story is... I tend to agree.... glad instead that its free.

Gotta go to bed now and try to unwrap myself from your web.  In an earlier life, she could have been me.... and he was definitely one of my X's

Can't wait to read more.

guess he didn't like anyone messin' with his lady or her showin' off her baubles in front of him maybe.  I knew he'd get her a bauble.
