The caterpillar turns and leaves Grow back and greener to the sun, To bid new butterflies to brood Fresh generations in the trees. The curling maggot born to eat What deaths caress lays on its plate, Imprisoned by its hungry ways Will reap the sky and die in days. For seven months my son’s been gone Yet round and round the world ticks on As countless lives are lived and done I watch them go yet mourn just one. |

Nice write. I'm sorry about your son. Two of my children have passed away, so I can identify with your words. It almost seems as though the world should stop when such a terrible trauma takes place. Time allows you to go on, but life will never be the same again. Rae |

Grinch, I had no idea you had lost your son. I am so sorry for your loss. I'm keeping this poem; it is so special. ....jo |

And it does boil down to just that, doesn't it? Our heads know there is much death and destruction in the world... but our hearts keen our personal agonies. Maybe they would truly break if they tried to beat through still more grief. I am so sorry for your loss... and hope your days become easier to live. |

And here we are, poets all-the keepers of the words-yet there is none among us that possess the correct combination to ease your grief. I've not suffered your loss. For this I can only say a prayful "thank you", for I am sure my heart could not endure. My deepest sympathy for a life gone to early, and my prayers for you to heal. Sandra |

Grinch To each a small portion of the grief and joy..to see it in all the chaos is what love does. |

I think I should apologise for the confusion I've caused, fortunately I've never lost a son, this effort of mine was simply my interpretation of what it might feel like to do so. I generally slip on other people's shoes and write about situations I've never had to deal with first hand it's my way of understanding the human condition. But thanks for the replies. |
