In a state of limbo

0 posted 2007-01-06 12:12 PM

Curtains open up on these disastrous times,
Historical necessity demands we heed the warning lines,
What is the use of writing all of these books?
When the lessons of the past are all too often overlooked?

We live in a nation learned on the basis of television,
Literate enough to calculate our check book division,
And all of the closets full of our historical skeletons,
Go unanswered like the questions posed in an orphanage.

Wage war unilaterally,
Much like Germany,
During the Second World War,
On the basis of “security”,
All our funds spent on waging wars with overseas objectives,
When at home some people are starving, diseased and rejected,
What is the next step, in this American revolution?
A new Rome perhaps, the reverse of evolution.

Curing ills with pills, confining some to asylums,
Genetic manipulation, what else lies on the horizon?
Schizophrenia, bipolar, AIDS and ADD,
It’s a veritable supermarket, so choose your disease.

Across the globe states care for the citizen,
While at home we live in a capitalist prison,
Slaves to money, material, and our own vice,
While the truth eludes us like a maze full of mice,
The overlords have us chasing a piece of cheese,
Like pharaoh chasing Moses, and closing the sea of reeds,
No doubt it’s obscene, all of these advertisements that we see,
Yet we live in a free country, so do as you please,
Give in to demand, and buy the supply,
Or give up the system, die of starvation and live free.

As the end of the world becomes apparently clear,
It would appear as if humanity gives into its worst fears,
Becoming what it has strived for thousands of years to avoid,
When mans better nature becomes sucked into a void,
And then the show ends, mans history a blink,
In the history of the universe, a drop in gods kitchen sink.
