charcoal man slides polished feet ‘round bayou oversteps seeps rainy night slipstream no ouaouaron croakin’ no ol ‘gator eyes shinin’ no buzzin’ moustique at door only charcoal man and a mean rain slips screen door open quiet like lifts Panama on nail patchouli fills empty rooms searching for lady heart nothing he quick steps back to porch feels rough of quilt meaning rain on bare head hollers loud oo ye yi cold cold j'ai fai une grosse erreur where you at mon jeannette? charcoal man knows where she at he knows comin’ home ain that easy this time |
