My tea is steeping;
I'm in morning mufti,
shabby muscle shirt
moccasins
tangled hair awry,
no ceremony this,
though faint memories
of distant lives
at times do raise polite eyes
in shadows
awaiting recognition.

I ignore them
as I must,
waiting for a time to fill,
knowing they will understand
simply
it is about the cup
the water
patience and the choice of tea,
about precision in the steps
and in the end
releasing me.

I loved your tea ceremony, it holds all the dignity of a Chinese traditional one.
