Potty Training Your Nose

A man will walk into a bar
and purposely leave his wallet
on the counter so someone will find it
and realize that he exists;
that he has money
and has a laminated little card
with his face on it
to prove he was on the earth.

A doorknob to an upstairs flat
will purposely lock itself
to prove it longs for stability.
Later that evening
it will make love to a brass key
and turn itself into a gateway.

On a Friday afternoon
a young girl around the age of nine
will leave her home
after grabbing a baseball bat
and proceed to break the knees
of five men
to prove indefinitely
that she can play baseball
and "bust a few caps".
The next day,
she will discover the Tommy gun
and proceed to prove
why it’s incorrectly named.

A man had a runny nose
due to a cold,
so he decided to potty train it.
But after much consideration,
he chose to let it go
to roam the fields
as a wandering nose
free to run wherever
and never to return again.

This is to be free,
like a drop of water in
a hurricane,
this is freedom
and what it is to be.

Intrigued by the title I stepped for a second into your world...and I'm eternally glad that I did. This is fantastic, thought provoking, darkly witty and deeply readable. I love the raindrop in a hurricane line...superb writing.
