Fiddledeefum (sequel to The Town Of Flibbertyflat) After taking a trip down to Flibbertyflat My desire to walk disappeared just like that But I couldn’t stop thinking “What lies down Road B?” And my curious thoughts got the better of me I headed right for the Road B intersection And followed it off in a southward direction I walked down Road B for an hour or two ‘Til I thought I would wear out a hole in my shoe I walked and I walked ‘til I finally did see A place where a C Road crossed over Road B I thought for a moment on what I should do Then continued along on Road B, wouldn’t you? I looked left and right, then I looked up and down And off to the left was a small little town So I followed Road B right on into this place And I saw several folks with one hand on their face I asked someone there for the name of this town But the answer I got was a glare and a frown The person would not take their hand from their face To give me the name of this strange little place Then finally I saw a sign on a tree That said “Fiddledeefum” just as plain as could be So after my walk down Road B I had come To this strange little town known as Fiddledeefum The Fiddledeefummers would not speak a word As they went on their way, I thought this was absurd Then I realized why they had nothing to say They were sucking their thumbs as they went on their way And that’s why they all had their hand on their face ‘Cause Fiddledeefum was a thumb sucking place The poor little people there only could hum While going about this place sucking their thumb Whenever they walked down the sidewalk or street They hummed to each other when stopping to greet And that is why everyone there looked so glum ‘Cause no one could ever stop sucking their thumb There was only one time there that I saw their gums And that was at midday when they switched their thumbs I really felt bad for the Fiddledeefummers How sad to be nothing but thumb sucking hummers And try as I might to get someone to talk They only would glare and continue to walk I asked someone there to do me a favor And tell me which thumb was their favorite flavor But they only acted as if I were dumb And hummed at me angrily sucking their thumb Very soon I decided to quickly depart From Fiddledeefum and its thumb sucking art So kiddies if you keep on sucking your thumb You might end up living in Fiddledeefum For that strange little town down Road B to the South Is for odd little folks with their thumb in their mouth And as I was trav’ling back down on Road B A curious thought started coming to me I wonder what strange things might be down Road C? Someday I should find out, now don’t you agree? |

I don't know Steve... after the hat-wearers and the thumb-suckers, I'd be a little hesitant to find out what's on Road C |
