Here's one I wrote for a workshop and shortly after I posted it, the site disappeared...sooooo,
I had no critique on it.

A Grizzly Moment

salmon leap
salmon spawn
salmon swim
from dusk ‘til dawn

salmon glimmer
beneath the waves
salmon shimmer
entice my craves

they flit in eddies
leap for flies
evade my grasp,
that’s no surprise

yet when I’m quick
with grizzly skill
I show my worth
and reach my fill

plump and sated
I head for rest
clutch their flavor
to my breast

sleep deep and heavy
through winter’s grip
dreaming the thaw
through slumber’s trip

my coat’s sufficient
it girds me well
hibernation’s simple
with hunger’s quell

Well, I like it

Fool, said my Muse to me, look in thy heart and write.

Well done Virginia!

I can see the big fellow now, with that trophy in his mouth.

Hmmm, it appears that you must be part Grizzly bear! ~ for you certainly seem to know what it is like to be one!

This was fantastic, VAS! So good to be reading your poetry again! I had begun to think you disappeared into the Oregon mist!

This was a delightful read!

Giving you a warm, autumnal hug,
EA

Thank you all for your encouraging comments and your welcome hugs! It's good to be read again, as well. Thanks Pressie for the specific comment; it's helpful to know when certain parts strike the reader, too.

EA, I'm probably too far east in Oregon to be lost in the Oregon mist...;o} However, if I get to head to my daughter's, the Washington mist might try to mess with me over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Hmm, guess who's having salmon tonight? You've enticed my appetite, lol.

Yes it's me...
