I remember the cardinal from way back in Bethesda Maryland. I'd never seen such a bird in my life and I fell instantly in love.

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

Beautiful!  The words and the bird Marge.
They look awesome up here with the crisp white snow as a backdrop in winter.

Hmmmm, I wonder what....nahhh,  I don't
think I will make it there, so I will just
have to keep this poem so that I have this
picture! OK?

Marge,

There is just something uniquely special about a Cardinal.

Very nice!

"just as I wait
for a poetic thought
to come along"

Got one

Red in nature sticks out like a sore thumb,
only it's sweeter than a gorgeous plum.

Oh, the woods are filled with the mated Cardinals ... their colors truly light up the meadow and the yard~

I always make sure there are plenty of sunflower seeds out for them ... they LOVE THEM !!!

The male of the species has that glorious red suit on ... and the female is, to me, just as strikingly gorgeous in her coat of russet colors~

We probably have close to 60 pairs of them flitting about throughout the day~
They are so rich in beauty ... how could they help but inspire ?

Wishing that ALL of you could see them, for real, ... but second best thingie is that I can share them with you~

Looks like he came along at the right time! You are blessed to have so much poetic inspiration around you, Marge. Though I guess we all do if we know where to look.
