THE TERMINAL AGNOSTIC

I will not pursue
the mysteries
of apricot pits
and copper bracelets

I will not travel
to Mexico
to sit
beneath
a tree
that heals

I will not read
recipes
for breathing
to make
my blood
a mystic river

there is little
left of me
but pain
and a fear
that will not
make me
pray
