Gray Walls Of Reality
By Paul Wilson

I’ve been to that forbidden place
Beyond darkness past the edge of reality
You were there waiting for me
Lurking in the shadows of my morality

Puzzle piece in my hand won’t fit
The mirror image can’t be found
My world was a special place
Now it’s turned upside down

That line has been crossed
No way to return to other side
Darkness is closing in on me
Within the shadows I try to hide

You know all that I’ve done
You were my partner in crime
You were the voice within my mind
I tried to resist time after time

I roam these endless halls each day
Counting specks of dust on floor
The others don’t know I’m here
We’re all searching for that special door

Little white pills keep me in check
Keepers feed us three meals a day
Teardrops slide past edge of hope
Soaking into these walls of gray

I sit in corner of that forbidden place
Where my shadow and I wait for reality
Another day of fighting these demons
Hoping one day they will set me free

Paul,
your words moved me because I've been in that place where you are and I tell you, you can be free all it takes is a little committment...or a long one. (Just kidding) However, there is light beyond the darkness even if you can't see it.

Cheers
Kethry

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Thanks all for your caring replies.

I wrote this trying to see things thru the eyes of my brother.I tried to capture his thoughts and feelings. He resides in a nursing home because of an accident when he was very young. I recently visited him and was very sad to see how much his condition had detoriated since I last saw him.

His body is still with us even though he is just a shell of who he use to be as are the other residents of this nursing home even though I don't know them.

It is such a sad situation and I would do anything for things to be different.

We can only hope he lives without pain and
that his mind is at ease....  The suffering
of one we love is a very tough thing to
feel and live with.

Thanks to each of you for caring. This is just one of those poems I had to write, to let my heart bleed a little.

You are all such wonderful caring people, but more than that you are friends that understand the meaning of the words friendship and caring...Paul
