        On the ‘Runaway American Dream’
[a prognosis on the (alleged) ‘Noblest’ experiment]

Here stand we...self-righteous fools....
at this our twilight hour
cursing a dying sun at midnight
or pleading with our sacred shadows
for yet another day...another ‘way’....
already lost...to rain or tears....
in vain pursuit
of an ageless face in an faceless age
of naked ‘realists’ and other madmen!.
Oh look how far we have come....
To NOTHING!

Be not so quick...my lovely ‘friend’....
to laugh and dance and spit upon
the fallen petals of summer’s final rose
on the nameless graves which stilled
the last ‘Romantic’ heart....
and all who spoke with the ‘Voice’
of solitude’s serenity in wilderness....
for therein may lie...the final ‘chance’!

I am not one to usually say Amen
but here it is...
AMEN.
Into the woods I go, to listen to a bird's view of the day.

Bruce~
I like the all of this ... but THIS -

'an ageless face in an faceless age'

- is PRICELESS~

Now that I am speechless and almost out of superlatives..
May I just say~Thank you.

No spring, nor summer beauty
hath such grace...
As I have seen in one autumnal face.

Secondhanddreampoet,

This is pretty good.  I liked the second strophe best.

I'm reformed now.  I'll not spit in the street anymore.
