A time of regression
without a regret

Life lays closer to the earth
from which it sprang.
Sap has settled
into the roots.

A time for dozing
Bringing forth dreams
of fresh life.

Where perishables
give no thought
to expiration.

A time of awakening
to the truth of slumber.

Moving forward
in regression.

Your words ring true Larry.
I really like this honest approach to the autumn years.
Much enjoyed as always.
Hugs~Nancy

No spring, nor summer beauty
hath such grace...
As I have seen in one autumnal face.

Much enjoyed this Larry, and Autumn is one of my favorite times of year here in PA, it is so darn pretty in the mountains!

Glad you enjoyed Enchantress.  Thank you for stopping by and leaving a note.  ((( hugs )))

Gentle Spirit,
Yes!   It is beautiful here in Virginia too.
Theres a little stretch of road that runs from Culpeper through Sperryville on the way to Front Royal...the beauty it offers never ceases to take my breath away.  My ancestors have been traipse'n up and down that road since the 1600's...  I have never had to wonder why.
::smiles::    Thank you for stopping by. (((hugs)))

We don't really have an autumn here. It's kind of a two season place, but I do love the autumn that we have.  The smell of cranberries is really odd in the fall -- like decomposition and dank air.  I went back East one year and saw autumn in all its splendor.  It was beautiful and so inspiring.

Thank you for sharing this poem.
