A Girl That I Once Knew Here’s to a girl that I once knew With silky skin and eyes of blue And hair that had a golden shine Whose kiss was sweet as sparkling wine We loved to share a quiet dance And reveled in our young romance We thought those days would always last But time goes by the way too fast I saw that girl again today The golden hair’s now flecked with gray Those eyes still have the bluest shine Her kiss still tastes like sparkling wine Here’s to a girl that I once knew And dear I’m glad that girl was you |

If you don't have a "special" reason to gift this to your love, this poem alone will cause a little celebration... charming! |

Steve, this is a lovely sentimental ballad however... the way it's written makes it seem like you've only met the girl again today after a long absence. It is because you are trying to say you see her with fresh eyes everyday or is it something else? Cheers Kethry Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Thanks for commenting Keth. Actually I wrote this after looking through an old yearbook and seeing my wife's photo and about that time she walked into the room and it just clicked. Take care and Have fun. Steve |
