Little girls fold notes in hands and slip them secretly away to those who lay and wait and stack the cards to fall in the order of Superlatives and consequence directs the nearest place of death and the division of the people falls to you, a barrier too difficult to break through, hands held making bridges between beds and you have made a town out of this Love, or something that may have once resembled it and built the walls of bread and beer and all the things forgotten when last year because the best for Salvation Or compromise, it is hard to tell the faces apart, pressed against the window hard, and staring secret glances too stern to understand the words on the wall, they mean nothing to you but to me, they say "choose" Between fingers on my hand pulling skin apart from something you are touching too much and I am falling too fast to wonder why he is touching your hair. |
