Mama said "you've been very bad so go to your room! I don't want to see your naughty face, and Daddy will be home soon - And when I tell him what you've done - he'll know what to do - So go to your room! I get tired of looking at you!" And once again the little girl does what she's told - Not knowing what she's done this time to make her mother mad. The tears that she cries at night make her pillow grow cold - And while she waits in despair, she dreams about the happiness she never had. And the voices in her head seem to whisper, Like demons in the night, they taunt her: "Run away, run away, go on! Run away! Run away - you've got to! Run away - run away!" Daddy comes home from work and he's in a terrible mood - And there's no talking to him 'til he's had his food. After he's done, he hears about his daughter's alleged crimes - And he takes out his belt like he's done so many other times. How much more can the young girl endure? How much pain can she take? She's bound to grow up so insecure - So she takes the chance for her own sake - And heeds the voices in her head that whisper - Like demons in the night, they urge her: "Run away, run away - go on! Run away! Run away - you've got to! Run away! Run away!" ©1995-2006 Karen Blundell(aka arwen54) |
