Malevolence befowls the air, it stirs outside this room.
It's borne upon the stench of death that issues from from the tomb.
Its presence signalled by the creak that sounds upon the stair
no matter that it would appear as if t'were nothing there.

Draw close the coverlet for warmth, for suddenly it's chill.
" A simple draft and nothing more." you tell yourself but still,
the shadows of familiar things have grown suggestive now
in ways that you just can't quite put your finger on somehow.

Uneasy thoughts come into play, evoking childish fears,
" Was that door open partially, has someone else been here? "
You shrug it off, it's just the fact you don't like being alone,
at least you would were you not paralyzed down to the bone.

It's then you know they've come for you, your terror is complete.
" C'mon dad aren't you going to take us out for Trick or Treat? "

LOL...and the walk begins...
in the chill, no less!

It's the creeping leaves
that follow someone's steps
in the leaves

that I cannot see...

that gets to me.
