I am cold, tired, and worn
to the bone by the abrasiveness
of the day's chaos and calamity,
despite all my evasiveness.

There's not a switch to flip
to turn off all this thinkin'
and it's just enough to drive
a good woman back to drinkin'.

I guess maybe I'm just foolin' myself
that I still feel the same for you,
I just didn't want you to be wrong
when you said our love is true.

You once kept me from my sleep
now it's life that keeps me awake,
you rarely cross my mind at all,
not a conscious choice I make...

I'm sorry and it's sad to say,
I have no time with life in the way.

"There's not a switch to flip
to turn off all this thinkin'"

terrible to get stuck
in your thinkin'
isn't it Dixie?

the last line says it all

"I have no time with life in the way"

admirable piece of work

Live it, then, and don't look back.  I enjoyed this one.

Yeah, life has a way of waking us all up, doesn't it? It changes everything, and changes nothing. But life like everything else is made to be conquered, I have faith in you Dixie. Have faith in yourself and you'll have it made.
