Poet: Poohbear
Title: "Gray"
The contrast of the day and night
The comparison of morning to dusk
The many ways we share our thoughts
Of the beauty that all our words try
In their small way to share

But here, within the moment we are
The color gray is but a few footsteps
Away, a place that shed the many
Shades, yet only a few steps away
These shades of gray

The color of the day exits
Bright and cheerful sky of blue
The hustle and bustle of life
A contrast one must look at close
To wonder why within a distance
Of less than a heartbeat, how
Can this exist

There, a sound rumbling
Broken promises swam around like
A beehive in attack, they talk and talk
And talk but little said, less done
They promise far more than the hair
On my head, please, no more talk,
You destroy the little left

To change these shades of gray
Tragedy strikes in many ways
Leaves no sunlight to be shared
It is like the end of time

All others, those blessed without
This color, should remember
For it was here the heart of
Man was torn and tossed by
Nature’s wrath, to remember
Who she was and never forget…
She can do with you the same
Right now, without a whimper
Of regret

When you hear the cry of help,
Remember gray, not partial to
Status or wealth or anything else, she
Will only bring you to your knees to
Show her respect

Weeping softly, you will find me
Under the fields of gray

DearestPooh~

May the 'gray' be lifted~

'all our words try
In their small way to share'

You said an inkwell full with that thought~

Mav-
Thanks for this.  I am in a very "Gray" mood myself at the moment.  This touched me very deeply.

~you reached inside, you touched my heart,
and I am all the better for it~

When I read this on your daughter's site, I thought it was one of the best poems posted... I think the same here. *S* Welcome to Passions! *S*

This title caught my attention because I have gray eyes. Someone once asked if I would like to change my eye color with colored contacts. I replied no. I am the only one on  both sides of my family with grey eyes. Because my gray eyes are unique, I love them and would never change the color. Thank you for the poem!
