A Memorial Day tribute to those who fought so bravely
for this country that we love ... and paid the ultimate price~

Dear Marge:  A fine tribute to the many who have paid with their lives, for what we have here in this country!

Marge, this was such a powerful tribute to the fallen soldiers. The little reminders are the ones that hit the hardest. Happy Memorial Day.

Thank you all for the kindness of your replies~

This is an 'oldie' that I brush off each year and do a reading (to Taps playing in the background) at a local Memorial Day service~

Never a dry eye on the lawn~

I am ever grateful to be an American who pays tribute to ALL who have given their lives in the many wars we've had to encounter ... ~

Those who fell can no longer answer the roll call ... but their actions and deeds speak loudly in each and every freedom we are blessed to enjoy in America~

I HONOR YOU ALL~

Sadly beautiful Marge, you did real good on that one.
My dad was on Iwo Jima in ww2. Spent 50 days on that Island. There is a movie coming out about it next month. Its called the "flags of our fathers". I read the book. Clint Eastwood directed and produced it along with Steven Spielberg. Its about the men who raised the flag on Mount Surabachi. My dad was just below the mountain and watched both flags go up then down. Check out site if you want to. My dad is still alive. http://www.flagsofourfathers.net/

I'm glad this came back up... so those of us who were napping a month or so ago could read it now. *S*
