Judy saw the baby bunny
on her daily nature walk.
She saw the fox draw closer.
Watched it step and stop and stalk.

Judy caught the little baby.
Freeing it from certain death.
She watched the horrid hunter flee
and cussed it 'neath her breath.

The fox made it's cautious circle
and returned back to her den,
with empty mouth and empty teats
and hungry pups again.

Judy glowed from her act of kindness.
Glad for being at the site.
Unaware of starving fox pups
that perished in the night.

Judy took her nature walk next day.
She let the precious babe go free.
She kissed it on it's tiny head
and said, " Live naturally ! "

She smiled at the baby's hurried hops.
But she could only gape and gawk
as the bunny rose to heaven
'neath a swooping red-tailed hawk.

How true it is, Larry.  When we step in
to stop the course of true nature,
we are just as much the enemy
as anything else that comes
naturally.

Well done!

Such a sad story but so true that we can't interfere with nature.  What is meant to be will be.  Enjoyed "muchly"!

Makes me wonder if we do not interfere too often in the lives of humans also.   Too much coddling may not be wise all the time.  Thanks, martyjo

and what to do, oh what to do?
pitiful, yet, nature's way...
thank you for sharing.
