Peace Under northern skies among icy mountains so tall an unearthly silence reigns supreme Shimmering lights that fill the black of night seem to allow us all to touch our dreams Here there is no war, no blood, no death only the snow's virginal purity in the cold Fingers can deftly pluck the stars from the sky but only if the one plucking is fearlessly bold This is not a place for the weary or soft It is hard to exist among the freezing clouds When darkness covers the winter sun black and cold falls like a curtaining shroud Watch the miraculous gift as it begins to unfold Icy flakes fall and stars hang like glass balls As the northern lights begin their eerie dance Yet, in the blackness, time seems to abruptly stall That is the bonus that few get to see It could be proof of a Higher Power but your eyes have to be open to take it all in as the heavens open like petals of a wondrous flower May you know peace in the land where you live May you touch dreams and see the beauty of the night May you reach out to others and offer them love while keeping what is dear safe within your sights aziza [This message has been edited by aziza (08-28-2006 02:33 AM).] |

Wise words, aziza. There are many beautiful and peaceful places on Earth, from the high mountain regions to the tropical rain forests, where war does not command newspaper front pages and people live their lives in relative peace and tranquility. May all nations achieve that one day........ |
