The Tale of
Toerag’s Toe

‘Twas once I knew a *Toerag who
Owned not a sock nor had a shoe
That’s why his toe was frozen blue
Of which he lost in a canoe
That sailed within the channel’s hue
And came between a courting two
Who saw the toe and thought it lewd
“What can this be? Have you a clue?
Do you have one? Not me—Do you?
Perhaps a frog? A kangaroo?
No, surely not, its color’s blue
And looks all wrinkled, warped in goo,
And hairy like a nun’s tattoo…

Perhaps, I know… It’s You Know Who’s!!!”

…and so they rushed back to the loo
And plunked in one less fresh *LuBlue.

Lighthouse Bob

*British and Australian English slang for someone unpleasant. Seems to derive from cloth bindings worn on the feet of tramps, convicts, beggars etc.

*A brand of toilet freshener.

Now we know the truth of this Toe!  This lighthearted piece gave me a good laugh, Bob.  Your talent covers many catagories and styles.

Sharon,

What a wonderful picture of Toerag!!! How did you ever find it??? Have you two been exchanging photos over "My Space" again??? Big Smiles.

You always seem to find that most perfect way to compliment my poetry with a perfect picture, an exquisite art piece, or some special resource and I do appreciate your creative additions so very very much.

Thank you and thank you, again, my poetess friend, for your kind replies and God bless.

Magnus,

Pride! Dignity! Self Respect! Esteem! Moral Fiber!

are just a few words that come to my mind…

…and thanks bunches for the comment, but, hey, I would lay off that Toerag stew. That stuff will make you nauseous for sure.

Thanks again and God bless.

Thank you Joyce,

I'm glad that you found me here and discovered that indeed I can be humorous. Big Smiles. Occasionally I do get inspired and I was inspired this time to write something humorous by "Toe's Challenge" in the Discussion Forum and, yes, I thought the definition of "Toerag" was quite interesting myself when I researched it and I thought that it might interest some other people as well so I decided to share it here.

Thanks again Joyce and, as always, I really enjoyed hearing from you.

God bless.

Ball,

You didn’t know??? I’m surprised!!! Well, I wanted to write a hairy nun’s branding but it just didn’t rhyme and I think tattoo still gets my point across quite well...

...you know with that whole sell a Bessie thing and all.

Thanks for your comment. I appreciate it.
