5616 Day of Your Eyes 16 August 2006 One day in seven, they call a week One day in a year, perhaps more of a lifetime That chance encounter, as if meant to be How does it happen, and are we to believe in such love. For where were you that day the day our path did first cross What made you be there and why did I see your smiling face Questions, even more questions to life that happiness, that being, that strife Dearly beloved, in gathering this day which of them all was eternity to last Yet divided in means and ways to retreat one day in seven, that day of your eyes Could God ever grant such a day and would that day reap what it sows A happiness, an eternal love that moment of joy, all in one big prize "for Carolyn" “They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.” Psalm 126: 5 KJV © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |
