she does have a name not that the charcoal man ever calls her by it he calls her bébé darlin’ poupée and when she’s full of herself showin’ out actin’ woman Mamou charcoal man watches her sail cotton skimpy naked hands open to night she bows stretches purple roses lie on a soft mound an offering to demons and the most beautiful of angels she laughs daring chime holds arms righteous for her man when the lady was a true bébé old priest dropped water on her sparkle head tiny pink pout lady Jeannette not that the charcoal man ever calls her that |
