There are dreams
That rise from the depths
Ribbons of curling thought
Uncoiling images
Of days long gone
Yet so ever present.
Opalescent
Vacuous
Intangible
Yet there
Frighteningly real
In their clarity.
Hush.
They are just dreams.

There are dreams
That carry a scent
Diaphanous pictures
Woven from desire
Ethereal touches
Airy tracings
Chimerical kisses
Placed directly
On my heart
By lips
I want to know
But it is just a dream.

There are dreams
Where comes a man
Soft curls
Framing eyes
That smile
Radiant
Luminous
Strong hands
Encasing my delicate
Fingers
Intertwined
For a moment
An hour
A day?
How can this be but a dream?

There are dreams
Where I shudder
To consciousness
To find
My arms reaching
Enfolding
Encompassing
Holding on for dear life
To this man
Lest I open my eyes
And find
It is all but a dream.
