Art Arraigned

12 August 2006

Was art to the eye of being holden
or was blindness the colour of a rose
As if good was bad and evil insane
to those who understand, or do not in proclaim

A rose or a thorn, an empty page in a book
those days it does rain, or the sun exists
But do not into the eye of the sun look
An empty promise, the shadow of the wind
every day an encounter not always in print

From days of old, to long ago seen
where was the righteous, or was that a dream
What was poetry, could that be called art
for where was the brush or the paint to begin

Another moment, an expression gained
the poet and their sanity, quested as arraigned
Like a language, one to behold
an ancient art, or was art an event so named

“Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant?
to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall
be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.”
Romans 4: 14 KJV

This poem was prompted under difficult circumstances, but does show how to turn lemons into lemonade
