Our Sick Deck

We loved the big deck
When we moved into this place
But it’s now become
Quite a challenge we must face

Painted with enamel
That is latex based
It cracked and peeled
Appearing a disgrace

Two hired men worked hard
Doing their very best
Stripping twice and power washing
From morn till night without rest

A paltry amount of paint came off
They were as stumped as us
He hasn’t returned our calls
In the 3 weeks since all that fuss

During which we’ve had
Company from California and Ohio
Plus cousins from St. Louis
Saw our sick deck and heard our woe

Others from Des Plaines came
Grand daughter and friend from Italy
Today Hubby’s sanding away
To finish 'fore Saturday’s company

I told him not to break his neck
What the heck
We’ve learned to entertain
Without the deck!

It just seems kind of funny
Before attempted removal, it peeled
Now, in spite of removers, scrubbing
And power washing, it’s tightly sealed.

(I really don’t think my husband thinks this is funny)
