Blue Skies I can still inhale the aroma of freshly mown fields the bales lying out in the sun to dry Sweaty faces grimy arms lips begging for the refreshing taste of cold spring water Under cloudless blue skies of mid July My feet recall the feel of stubbled grasses prickling bare skin tickling the delight of a child The smell of dewberries and horses tantalizing They tease for one more minute in the sun wispy clouds drifting across clear blue skies Each contrasting and begging the imagination to find a shape discover the game feel the dreams of summer. My tongue recalls the sweet taste of hidden raspberries under canopies of deep green alders shading the sun disguising the light blue skies of August as stained fingers pick just one more while the song of laughter rings over the hill. And I am lured to relish blue skies. aziza |
