The Father You Never Knew

Oh my precious daughter
I did all I could do
To protect you from him
So he wouldn’t hurt you, too

When I was still carrying you
There were things he had told me
He was going to do to you
So from him, I had to flee

You were my precious baby girl
And, it was my intent to protect you
From all of the abuse he had done to me
To you, I wasn’t going to let him do

You don’t know him, the way I do
His wicked ways he tends to hide
Your reason for wanting to find him
I will never understand WHY

I loved you from the day you were born
Doing all I could to protect you
Then, you chose to find this man
The father you never knew

Those memories come back to me
As if it were just yesterday
Of all he had done to me back then
Each and every single day

You tell me of the things he does
And the things he says to you
Bringing back the memories
When there is nothing I can do

I feel no sympathy for him
Of all he is going through
Or of his health problems
He has made known to you

SuzieQ~
While I understand your motherly anguish ... there comes a time when the child-turned adult ... has to seek for themselves that which they may have missed~
No matter what may have happened ... I can surely understand that it takes a blessed person to reach out to the blood parent ... to give, and when possible to forgive, while there is still time~

She knows what a good mother you were/are ... her 'need' takes nothing away from you sweet lady~
Continue to love her enough to let her love him too~

You've come SO far dear lady~
Keep moving forward ...~
