~ Beyond the drive and fence so slow, Black-eyed Sues and Anne’s lace grow Beside a pasture shared in graze Appaloosa, fawn, and Dappled Grays In common among spots displayed Remains contented doe less babe Support of horses and spindly legs Set against floral lace ~ misc [This message has been edited by miscellanea (08-11-2006 07:33 AM).] |

Catrina, No greater compliment could you have paid. We had noticed the fawn grazing in the small pond field with the horses once, twice, and on and off for about a month. It disappeared a few days ago. (I had begun to wonder if the coyotes had taken it for a midnight snack.) Miraculously it seems, it reappeared with its amiable friends. I thought I ought to record the moment because in my x number of years, I've never seen anything like it. The horses and fawn seem to have non-chalantly adopted one and other. Thanks for your sweet comment! misc |

little fawns are so sweet we had one a long time ago that we raised from the time he was about 3 weeks old (he had an accident, so we bottle fed him and nursed him back to health) he stuck around for a pretty long time, when we finally sent him back into the wild, he brought his friends out to frolick in the field in front of our house lovely poem, and I agree .. no need for pictures at all, you painted it well ~*Sheli*~ By words the mind is winged |

Devine Chaos, What a neat experience and good fortune for both you and the fawn! You answered many of the questions I had about raising an orphan fawn. Thanks! misc |

misc, if you have anymore questions, please feel free to email me hon, we kept him (Freckles) from 3 days old to about a year old before my insane stepfather "taught" him to be wild again lol ~*Sheli*~ By words the mind is winged |

Lee, I didn't know how to describe the relationship between the horses and faun so I decided to write in purely objective tone. It is rather odd; they don't seem to notice one and other or even stand within close proximity, but something is obviously there! Glad you picked up on the light hearted nature that I couldn't describe! misc |

Sheli, It's AMAZING you kept it alive at three days old! Next time I'm sick, I know which Dear Doctor I'll give a call! We've had a couple of calves whose mother wouldn't claim them. Without the mother's colostrom, no matter how hard we tried to feed them and care for them, their resistance was low. Glad to hear your success story! misc |

After reading your poem and enjoying it thoroughly, I caught your reply to Catrina. You truly do see life and the beauty of nature through the eyes of a poet! ~ YOU! This was incredibly beautiful! I do so enjoy your poetry on life on the farm! Love & Nature's Light, Linda |

misc the little fawn that we had was injured badly by my stepfather when he was mowing the hayfield .. he saw the doe jump and run and looked for about 45 minutes for a baby, but never found him, so figured the doe was just a spaz .. he found him when he ended up cutting one of the baby's legs off with the mower .. so yep, he truly was a miracle *smiles* adorable little guy, he was ... would come up on the porch and stomp around when he wanted someone to come out and play with him, and sneak up behind ya when ya got out of the car and nudge ya to get fed lol ~*Sheli*~ By words the mind is winged ~Aristophanes~ |

Devine Chaos, I dare you to spend a few hours to write and post a prose about the fawn. It's so captivating and has the makings of a very inspirational and moving story. Thank you for sharing all you have! misc |

Very good poem what a nice flow and choice of words. You love them horses and flowers don't you. I almost started singing John Denvers country roads. lol Really it was a great poem I saw lots of talent there. Dave |

divine chaos, Glad to hear this. I'll try to make it down to the prose as soon as I can to enjoy a snippet of your life and humor. Things are wrapping up here and I probably won't be on the Blue Pages for a while. It gets really head spinning busy for me about now... Take care. I've really enjoyed our little conversations here. Thanks! misc, Dave, Ah, yes. I do enjoy the freshness of the country and the wild flowers, but I really don't think they are the favorite tasty morsels of the horses or deer. (Our tractor had been broken for a while and the fields just did their own thing! Consequently, I've never seen it so beautiful here. And as far as John Denver, I've always liked his music, but have come to appreciate it even more as the country is being 'developed'. (I have a feeling you like the country, too...) Thank you so much for commenting. misc [This message has been edited by miscellanea (08-11-2006 04:33 PM).] |

I posted the story here, just for you, misc *smiles* It was originally written in my blog for friends, so more like a journal entry than a story format, but hope you enjoy it when you get the chance! /pip/Forum15/HTML/002459.html ~*Sheli*~ By words the mind is winged |
