Whispered Secrets of Glacial Waters Looking up at a sky of blue clarity white clouds pushed by the wind rock cliffs rising vertically from the swift currents of the river as logs and branches sailed and bobbed by, traveling to the Sound small flowers of pinks and blues pushed from cracks in the schist and the silt sang against the bottom of the boat It whispered secrets of what lies beneath the glacial waters and hummed against the worn metal, etching its mark on old paint fishermen tied to the steep rocks, spidermen seeking salmon knotted to the rock against their backs, cradling them offering an escape from the proximity of the treacherous currents eddies and whirlpools danced in a rhythm, singing an invitation ~ come join us! Fall into our world and lets us take you away ~ Mesmerized and entranced with the danger of their beckoning call water pushing the boat against rock out crops, slamming and banging fish swimming with ruthless intensity below a surface smashed by winds buffeting the water into waves and spray, creating a life of its own And above it all, the white jagged peak of Spirit Mountain catching the sun's last rays, pure white becoming prom dress pink Serving to remind of the beauty, and the need to live evident in raw wilderness The rampant river curtained with a brown blanket that caresses all in its path while the watchful keeper of the mountainous peaks, patiently waits for me to return ... ... again. aziza |

Ah Spectacular ! When I was younger...it called to me. It always called. I spent many years living wild. If I was not in the forest...my destinations were from tree line to tree line. I never did reach the heart of what pulsated within me and I am too long in the tooth and broken up now to attempt it. Cold nights are spent reading Robert Service by a warm fire. ::smiles:: Thank you for this ! |
