~ Near and Far ~I wish I were a locksmith with the knowledge and the skill to make a key to fit the lock upon the doorway to your will. I'd fashion it of love and trust, respect and knowledge too. And turn it oh so gently, to open you to you. But I am not a locksmith and I haven't any key. And so your will remains untouched by either you or me. |

Ned~ You caught me up in the emotions of this one~ 'to open you to you' ... that takes great patience and skill sometimes ... well actually most of the time~ *Huglets* ![]() ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

Marge, I can't express how great my pleasure to share these things with those on whom it is not wasted. And now, of course, the rest of the story. In the days following Woodstock, I volunteered as a counselor at a street clinic. One of my charges was a young woman, twenty-something as I recall, whose story was so typical--abusive childhood, drug problems, living on the street--the usual. But there was something special about her. She was a gentle soul in whom I could sense, if not greatness, at least a spark of something wonderful. But her self-image had taken too many hits below the waterline and she was in danger of sinking altogether. After working with her several times, I wrote this poem following what turned out to be our last session. I never saw her again and to this day have no idea what happened. A poem's just a poet in a word. |

Ned "I'd fashion it of love and trust" Of those two, trust is the most needed and the hardest to make. Again, much enjoyed!! |

Martie, There is only one question of trust, and that is our trust in ourselves. With it, no other trust matters, and without it, no other trust is possible. It is a decision we all make at every moment: do I trust myself now, or not? I hope your answer will always be a resounding, "YES!" A poem's just a poet in a word. Ned, (laughing silently to myslef) You always amaze me with everything you write. I have read you in prose but this is the first poem I have read of yours and I must say that I enjoyed it very much. It was amazing. I'm looking forward to more pieces by you. ![]() Your friend, Heather Desire nothing except desirelessness. Hope for nothing except to rise above all hopes. |

strange, how many times I've felt myself in those same shoes, hoping to help someone unlock themselves sometimes I've been able, more often, sadly, not |

"nedj will be notified of replies." Good. I want to reach you, and maybe a response tweet from the software will do the trick. You arrived at a time when for personal reasons I was replying to few if any poems, though I read many, and all of yours. I haven't seen you lately, and I just want to let you know, you're missed...and not only by me, I'm sure. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

Ratleader, Thanks for your most appreciated response. The truth is that I have been incredibly busy with a new project recently, and it looks like it's only beginning to pick up steam. But I hope I can find more time for Pip. It is nice to be missed enough for someone to go out of their way to do something about it. That says a lot for both of us. And the others who have shared similar feelings with me. I love you all. I will again post something, and soon. Ned A poem's just a poet in a word. |
