You tossed your cloak tinted in betrayal there by the doorway and stepped into the suite of domestic stability, all the while wearing that sly fox grin. You wore your cunning well for awhile until it wore thin and the fabric of you showed through leaving nothing more than frayed remnants of who you seduced me into believing that you were, but like all things that no longer shine I discarded the gem that had long since lost it's polish and turned dull, because after all; I never cared for the color of deceit anyhow..... seek the flame within yourself |

I don't even think deceit has a color other than the sadness it leaves behind if sadness has a color... Sighing hugs M |

I knew when I saw the title, and clicked on this, it would be like a walk down some movie scene, so descriptive, so heartfelt and emotional...Good jobber Donna this... You tossed your cloak tinted in betrayal there by the doorway and stepped into the suite of domestic stability, all the while wearing that sly fox grin. mmmm, mmmmm, what descriptions...lived with that man for years...makes us stronger doesn't it... You wore your cunning well for awhile until it wore thin and the fabric of you showed through leaving nothing more than frayed remnants of who you seduced me into believing that you were it is amazing, your living with someone, and you think you know them...?????? I never cared for the color of deceit anyhow..... oft times I think of this...my youthful eyes, the deep deep trust...and how he must have laughed to himself...yanno, he called me the other week, and I had no desire to ever hear from him again, and told him so...actually, I was insulted that he did call...insulted that he thought...yanno??? Donna, this is an excellent poem, with a superb ending, but I am so sorry for your pain in it. I agree with all the responses, especially Dixie's and Paul's. Lee, good for you! (Talking about your last paragraph.) Loved your response for many reasons, Uriah Heep! - Owl |

laughing @ susan's comment. i think we've all met this one. but, as you so eloquently put it here: "You wore your cunning well for awhile until it wore thin and the fabric of you showed through" their true fabric always shows through eventually. i think i'll keep this one in the 'you go girl!' inspirational file "You can do no great things, just small things with great Love."~Mother Theresa |

Its always hard when you think you've found him...but really you've found him, his baggage, his lies, and his talent to weave those lies together. Personally, I think the color of deceit is baby poop yellow/brown! I really liked this, maybe because I've seen the color of deceit in the eyes of someone I love. Thank you so much for sharing! It always hurts to find that a person wasn't showing you who they really were. But it's a thing that happens often enough as of late. Very beautiful poetry, I really love the last few lines. |

Absolutely love this - poignant, powerful, extremely well-expressed! I relate very much so, a few people came to mind while reading this....I know the pain of realization all too well.....and am saving this~ Melissa~ Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world! |
