a pentamerous photo
sits on my desktop

sporting a pentacled flower
and five pointed cross
superimposed over the split images,
a photo of
a chicken's head

I clucked and called it
my wiccanchicken
though I might be stepping into
some muddy waters here
as I know so little of
rituals and such
but know a friend
who can bring me
out of my dark ignorant corner
and dance around truth
until it reveals itself
underneath
the full moon that shines
on the midnitesun

and if this makes little sense to you,
imagine what it is for me
to see this picture
and not comprehend
it's full intent

ah,
and all this from a photo
on the intenet last week
that accompanied a story
about the bird flu virus

and me,
with a mind that travels
as it unravels
clutching
at the why
of life
