Ode to Santa Ana Wind Past the floating raft ahoy drifts the wind with leaf and wade of power churned a feather to the froth Dreamed in buckets wealth of stars the dark pool weeps the minutes and absorbs the richness of the cool into the sky of open meter Fast the time drains and cloud is gone pushed to the other side of reason until the shroud is lifted from the air and the color true is left there Can you see the length of tulle blue unraveled in the sky the city watches amazed that in the alleys and doorways the litter could be blown away so even the clean line of mountains seen when just yesterday there only haze remained |

even the clean line of mountains seen when just yesterday there only haze remained I experienced this recently... not the Santa Anas *S*... but sudden clarity where I'm used to seeing smog... I was suddenly in an entirely different place... and reminded how sad it is that we're so used to pollution that its absence is a surprise. *S* Excellent write! *S* |

MartieSis~ You do it up so eloquently ... PAR ! I was there, in Fountain Valley once, when the Santa Ana winds came cavorting about ... it was brutally hot ...~ Ever tried to go to a (I think you all call them Swap Meets) to one of those selling places ... It' was soooooo hot that bottled water and little battery operated fans were the biggest thing selling? LOL ... I can honestly tell you that this Florida gal, in the throes of thousands of people, too off her blouse ... and sported around in her red bra for the rest of the day !!! LOL ... didn't know ANY of the crowd ... and after all, it's CALIFORNIA !! *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

Marge/sis....LOL...I'm shocked!!! But laughing my self silly! This wind isn't one of the hot ones...allthough it's not exactly cold either. It's 76 degrees here right now. I love these winds because they make everything look so beautiful and clean, but they're no good when there are fires around. |

I am always in awe when I read your poetry. It has a real presence about it. You transport me to a detailed setting every time, but still allow my imagination to wander. Such a gift! miscellanea |

"Can you see the length of tulle blue unraveled in the sky the city watches amazed that in the alleys and doorways the litter could be blown away" This is how, ladies and gentlemen....this is how. Read. Learn. Write better. If you can learn to paint a scene in this kind of color and movement (I hope to learn, so should you), you are a poet indeed. Now, about that red bra.....and a park I see daily.....!!! ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> ______________Ratleader______________ |

Well... I read. *S* And I even learn... it's the writing better that's so impossible to achieve. *S* That you make it look so easy and effortless just makes it all the more impressive... *S* Speaking of impressive... I would have paid good money to see Marge in that red bra! LOL |

That's really neat. Your meter is fit for the content, and the last two lines fit beautifully, and achieve the full effect. |

Some day, I shall relate to you the story of when my mother was traveling down south during the time of the Santa Ana's...and coming out of San Gabriel pass, her car was nearly stopped in its tracks by the sheer force of the winds throught the passes.... Oh, I guess I just did.... I never tire of hearing of the Santa Ana Winds, Martie...so keep coming up with more. By the way, isn't it about time for a duet? |

This seems to be a kind of metaphor for change as well as a description of beauty seen. Enjoyed. Kristabell |
