5403 Love’s Silence 17 May 2006 Was silence love or love silent As to green grass and skies of blue Those days of grey in sombre cloud to shade Her happiness, her heartfelt desire was this silence, or the rhythm from within Those Pensacola days, under a Florida sky to know children were passion Nursed at birth, rested upon breast Small hands suckling as to a prepared calf Her pride, her joy, yet silent in amour the foundation nevertheless laid upon soul Her offspring, her apples, fruit of loins never silent, the quietness her heart at rest “Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.” Psalms 94: 17 KJV © 2006 Christopher W Herbert (a New Zealand Poet) a poet who cares |
